Pastys and pearls bento

I had a lot of fun making these pastys for this bento. Those are tiny mozzarella's balls (pearls) with a garlic chive flower on top and in the middle a side of cherries. The bottom box is kiwi cherries hummus and toast. Guess the shape of toast and win a book recommendation.

Hey, it's what I do best. The recommending, that is.

  1. I can't tell the shape of the toast...a train maybe? It looks super yum!

I love this box!!! It reminds me of a story I read as a kid of a vampire bunny that snuck out at night to suck the juice from the farmers vegetables.

  3. I remember that: Bunnicula!

  4. You are right! It's a train shape! Funny how it looked like a weird shaped rabbit in person, but photographed it looked just like what it was, a little engine that could.

Bunnicula? huh? Well that I will look into. Sounds funny!

A funny read I bumped into was The Bedwetter by Sarah Silverman. I'm not a huge fan of her stand up but the book is written so funny. I opened up in the middle (as I often do) and was hooked.

I also just got the Yum-Yum Bento Box by Pikko and Maki, and I am hugely impressed!

  5. adorable, classy bento! I love garlic chive flowers and how you've used them here. And as I'm sure we agree, pastry is an all-purpose life enhancer :)

  6. It is NOT a train shape! It's a koala on its side! :)

This is really an amazing bento: I would actually pay to get it! What's in the pastries though, did I miss that?

Oh, and I LOVE the box too (how could I not) but of course I meant your marvelous lunch :)

  7. Thanks bentobird! I think I got the chive flower idea from You!

gnoegnoe, I finally saw the koala ;) The pastys are little meat pies made with chicken, mushrooms, shallots, and garlic. I blogged about over on my foodiejudy blog. Thanks for your kind words!
