She was an American Girl bento

If I had a pub, an American pub, I'd probably serve sliders and beans and fries too. I'd serve plenty of vegetarian dishes too. I was vegetarian for awhile, and eating out was the hardest thing. Everything looked delish except for the veg plate. Slab of tofu on rice, anyone.

This is leftover. Beef sliders with Colby/Monterey Jack cheese and pinquintos beans with Mexican cheese were made by me the night before.

Below are sides for the sliders: sliced pickles, tomatoes slices, red leaf lettuce, and Bob's Bleu Cheese Dressing in the kiwi container. On the left: watermelon balls. Summertime!

This is the sides box closed.
With the cute TOTORO!

Tako Poki Bento

A few days after I made the pretend octopus bento for The Mister, he brought home the real deal. So this was lunch today as I took a break from the computer. I'm reading a recipe book called Asian Bites, a present from The Mister too. He can be nice like that.

First Time Using Wood Bento Box

This was Thursday's lunch: three plums and two pieces of chicken. I went round and round with the choice of box primarily because I was afraid of using the wood. You see, the box smells very good and I've always associated that smell with toxins the tree puts out to poison wood boring insects. What pray tell would it do to me if my food touched it and then I ate the food?

So I lined the bottom with parchment paper, but realized as I was loading it up, the sides would be touching too. Well I haven't died, so it must be all right to have food touching the wood. If you know different, *please* let me know.
