Fresh radishes from the garden, a sweet orange and blackberry bombs, and dried pomegranate seeds hang out with Mr. Grumpy Giraffe. Believe me, I can sympathize with Mr. Grumpy Giraffe as this consoling bento was my lunch on my first day back to work after my vacation.
So I used a new box, My Neighbor Totoro holding a four-leaf clover, and filled it with rice and teriyaki chicken and pickles. That is black caviar on the rice.
I know it looks like a blackberry. I bought the caviar to add to salmon sashimi, my birthday dinner.
Yay! I made it another year. Yes indeed I'd rather be lucky like my lucky Totoro!

you've already got radishes in your garden?! jealous. 2 weeks until we can plant outside. but I'm getting ready, awakening the flower beds and pots and getting things in line. fingers crossed we have a HOT (to us) and sunny summer.
ReplyDeletehappy belated birthday! :)
Thank you Susan! Spring came and went so quickly this year. Now it's in the 90s and all my irises are drying up. I'm planting a "secret garden" this year, so hopefully some photos to come. Please post photos of your garden as it unfolds! I really enjoy seeing them.
ReplyDeleteI will definitely share garden photos and can't wait to see yours too. Always fun to see what's coming up in someone else's yard! My mom has 3 iris up and about to bloom. We are still having a little cool weather. Hoping for mid-50s this coming week. :) Then we'll be off to do some plant shopping at the nursery.
ReplyDeleteI saw this post yesterday and thought of you. :) http://www.themarysue.com/hayao-miyazaki-minimalist-posters/
ReplyDeleteI love these posters! Thanks for sharing! I could design a room around each one ;)
DeleteBento as consolation and cheer giver--just another of its many nifty qualities! Enjoying the sprightly, yummy, spontaneous feel of your bento (as ever)...
